best source for appliance reviews?

Hi all, Still working on my kitchen! What sites if any have people found good reviews/organization of information about appliances?  I have a fantasy of a chart with prices and dimensions, and then reasonable and unbiased reviews.  Maybe my fantasy is reality at Consumer Reports but how would I know without paying for membership first?  Anyone find them worth it?  Not?  Another reliable source? Thanks!

The problem with CR is that they are not always up to date with their models. Also CR has a conservative perception. For example they always rate LL Bean as the best pair of pants…. Best thing is to read reviews. Just the 2 cents from a guy who sells appliances. Levi Capland

I like CR (but not for foodstuffs! Yikes.). You can always look at actual print issues at the library if you don’t want to pay to subscribe. I tend to let it lapse and then resubscribe when I’m about to buy something, figuring that the charge is much less than the cost of the item.

You’re lucky Steve. I had one for 3 months & didn’t notice the auto-renewal clause. It continued through a credit card number change, which I had no idea was possible. I complained to them & my card company (who said that was an agreement with CR), and CR were quite unrepentant and said it was ‘clearly noted’ on the subscription. Yeah, in the legal notice nobody reads.

Hey, there are a whole bunch of people who would swear by CR.  A few years ago I had an on line subscription for some rediculous price per month and was able to drop it without penalty when I no longer needed it.     steve

Garden web forums are fantastic but they take some getting used to. Strong bias towards Bluestar and CC ranges these days. I find it helps to have at least a vague idea of what you want before jumping into the fray. I like appliancist.com as well, and Consumer Reports just published a kitchen guide that’s pretty comprehensive. I don’t trust CR implicitly but in conjunction with the appliance and kitchen forums on Gardenweb you will find great info.

Garden Web.  You have to know what you are searching for (ie, search for things like Bluestar versus Capital Culinarian) but it really is fantastic.
