window treatments - experience with Smith & Noble, Hunter Douglas or The Shade Store

I’m looking for a company to do custom window treatments for a number of windows in my home.  Some very basic, others a bit more involved.  Wood shutters, roman shades, rollers and some drapery.  Any experience (good or bad) with Smith & Noble, Hunter Douglas or the Shade Store?  Also curious on relative cost?  Or any other company to reccomend?  Thanks in advance.

I bought roller blinds from the shade store a couple years ago & am happy with the product — although I wish I’d had them come out and measure the windows instead of doing it myself (one of them I had to really shove in to fit.)  For wooden shutters I’d recommend the shutter store (it’s online — theshutterstore.com) I measured & installed the shutters myself (super easy to do) — and they look great 2 years on.

We just bought roller shades from The Shade Store and love them. They sent someone out to do measurements, and we had the same people back to install. We’re like them so much, we’re looking at buying more rollers or maybe roman shades.

I bought white painted shades (with blue accent down the front) from Smith and Noble. I measured and installed myself. It was incredibly easy and 4 years later they’ve held up perfectly. I reccomend! If you’re going with painted, it’s worth getting the sample of the color mailed to you. It does look different than on the website. Also, Google search of a coupon. I found one for $100 off the order.

We ordered wooden blinds from Smith & Noble and are very happy with them.  We measured ourselves and had our contractor install them.  We were deciding between Smith & Noble and Hunter Douglas, whose price was close to 3x more.  I was apprehensive about the quality difference between the two, but now that the blinds are installed, I am confident we made the right choice.  Two things that may have made a difference-we used painted white wooden blinds so there was no issue with wood species/grain potentially looking cheap and we were able to measure ourselves because the windows and frames are new construction so everything is square.  Hope this is helpful.
