public adjuster

Does anyone will recommend a very good and reliable Public Adjuster to deal with my building insurance company? Thank you for your help.

There are times for a public adjuster, but they do not always get you more money. Therefore, I would be very hesitant to sign a contract. In many cases, you end up with less on a net basis. Like a real estate agent, they work on a percentage, but also like a real estate agent, their motivation is to get the deal closed and collect their commission. Hanging on for that last $5000–while it may be valuable to you who will get another 4,500 after the adjuster’s cut–may not be worth their time. I would at least see what the insurance company is willing to do and see if you think that a public adjuster will be able to increase that number by 15-20% (to cover their fee and make it worthwhile). My personal experience on a fire claim of approximately $750,000 was that a public adjuster would not have increased the settlement at all. Howerver, I was dealing with a first-class insurance company.

The public adjusters are regulated by the insurance industry.  In Ny they are alowed to get   3 – 12 and a half percent.   Insurance adjusters always get you more money. they work on a percentage that’s why

Thank yo for the info, I’m aware of that. However, they know how to press the right buttons, know the contractors and materials cost better than the average Joe and will be willing to achieve a better settlement for their own benefit. (as far as I know)

I assume you’re aware they get about 10-15% of the settlement. Unless it is a complicated loss, it may be better to do it yourself.
