Looking for homeowners insurance...

and it’s harder than expected.  Yes, I’ve done a search here, or tried to – the site wasn’t really cooperating.  What I was really looking for was an insurance broker, but in cruising the internet, what I’m mostly finding are people just saying something like “I’m with Allstate.”  In asking my acquaintances, I was surprised to fidn most with Chubb – and I don’t need something so high end. I’m open to suggestions…?

Single family? Coop? Multifamily? Allstate and Statefarm have decent rates and have offices all over the place. You can find cheaper rates using brokers, but you will find out how good the policies are only when you need to make a claim. Chubb is great for those who can afford it and want peace of mind.

we used brownstone agency which uses I think everest to underwrite. people on this forum seem to favor chubb too, something about the fact that they are great about paying claims and taking care of you when you need them.
