Hey how much does the boiler inspection and paper work should cost each year?

My current guy only gives me one day a year to do the inspection. and I don’t get to pick time or day!! He gave me a crappy time and date this year. I told him its very hard for me to do it. I want to do it either ealrier( like now this week or later)   so how much does everyone else charge. Thinking of changing if its :p costly or not.

I get my inspection done by CitySpec.  They always call to schedule to make sure I’m going to be around and its only $125.  Also, they don’t do service work so I never have to worry about my boiler “failing” just so they can give me a huge repair estimate.

usually some plumber comes and test out the boiler and pay him and he leaves and he also fill out the paper work and sends it in for us and we get a stamp from him saying he inspected the place.

You’re talking about the City filing?  Doesn’t your insurance company provide the inspector?  Ours does, through Hartford Steam boiler.  They’re pretty flex on scheduling as long as it’s before the due date.  Other costs must be embedded in our insurance because we only have to pay the $40 filing fee.

This answer may not be helpful, but the commercial insurance policy for our co-op includes boiler coverage and the insurance company inspects the boiler for free every year and files the paperwork with NYC. That service probably pays for about a quarter to a third of the insurance. In addition, if you ‘fail’ the inspection, they will come back free of charge to certify the problems were corrected.
