Finding 1940s Tax Photo?

Hi all, I’m looking for the old tax photos of our home. As I understand it, the city took photos of every building in the 1930s/1940s and again in the 1980s. I could only find the 1980s one (by searching the street address here: http://nycma.lunaimaging.com/luna/servlet). Any advice on how to find the older one? Perhaps it just hasn’t been put online yet?

Here is how to get 1940s Tax Photos. TO LOOK AT MICROFICHE AND MAKE A XEROX COPY 1\. Go to the Municipal Archives on Chambers Street. 2\. Find your NYC block number and NYC lot number. Do this on the Department of Buildings BIS web site or look it up on the Sanborn map when you get there. 3\. Ask the librarian to help you locate the microfiche. She will ask you to find the microfiche file number. 4\. Find your roll of microfiche and load it into the machine. 5\. Find your property. I recommend taking a cell phone picture of the screen. The printers that they have do not print grayscale. It’s only Xerox quality. (Note: If the microfiche photo is too dark to see, try another machine. If you still can’t see it you will have to order the $35 photo. They are able to pull more detail from it in the darkroom) FOR A HIGH QUALITY PHOTOGRAPH 1\. Just order it for $35 dollars from the Department of Records. The order form is on their web site. This way you don’t have to go downtown. Happy Hunting!

I just did a search for tax photos. All I could come up with is this link: http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/taxphotos/home.shtml Apparently the city now sells hardcopy photos of any house. I couldn’t find any downloadable photos.
