Wood table with water damage

I’m trying to figure out if it is possible or even worth it to refinish this wood dining table. To my untrained eye it looks like the surface is panels of veneer (some kind of burl wood). The table was in a storage unit, there was a water leak, and then the owner didn’t get to it right away. There seems to be one small section that is very damaged with a bit of mold.

Like i said, I don’t know what is possible, if it is damaged beyond repair, but the table has sentimental value for my wife and I’d like to see if someone can fix it up. Any suggestions, or restoration places you can point me toward would be greatly appreciated.
