Wiring for rental apartment- what do people expect?

There is ancient phone wire and no cable connections for tv or internet.
We are renovating and wondering what to try to run in the wall while things are open.
Do people still want a landline phone connection?
Coaxial for cable tv to all bedrooms? Or are we past cable tv at this point?
Ethernet wire to all bedrooms?
Please let me know what you think. Thank you all!

When we switched from DSL to cable internet (FIOS not available) I wanted to keep our copper POTS line. It turned out that Verizon wanted more for POTS alone than for the DSL + POTS bundle so we went for VOIP. Still, VOIP uses the same CAT 2 internal wiring as a POTS phone so you would need internal telephone wiring for any landline (POTS or VOIP).

Most younger tenants want high speed internet access. Full stop. Some will want ethernet (especially for gaming). No one wants a copper line wired phone. The vast majority will not even pay for cable or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) telephone. Not sure if Verizon or any of the other providers will come in and install a Optical Network Terminal (where the fiber comes into the house) without a paying customer in place, but you should ask them {They just replaced my existing obsolete unit for free, and there is one sitting in my vacant rental unit}

I have to say, as a late millennial I haven’t owned a landline for at least a decade. All calls are done via Cell and VOIP. People simply expect a way to connect their router to the internet providers fiber or COAX cable, in a location that is convenient for power. Everything will be run from WiFi (in my experience). We purchased a brownstone with full CATV wiring and have never used it.

Are old style phone lines still used? I thought people get phone via Ethernet now.

listen, do what mozeeatpu says. i know, rentals = budget. but i would run it anyway. someone, even you, might need it later, twenty years from now. and run it yourself and let the pros do the terminations. data wire is cheap. electric wire is cheap, compared to opening walls.

here is what i do when walls are open: i run wires (myself, at night when the workers are not around). i run wires i have no immediate use for and i coil them in the ceiling. not only is now the time to run data but an extra electric line as well, just in case. when we did our bathroom i did it here. The circuit called for a 14/2 wire, I went heavier (12) AND added another wire and make it 12/3 (run to a junction box and cap the unused wire). I also added two extra 12/3 wires and left them coiled in the ceiling and above the box in the basement. bingo, if we need them the are there. if i do not use them, when we sell the house, i will tell the buyer about them, that wa y 1/2 the work is done if they decide to do the upstairs electric. as a contractor, if we need those wires later and i had not run them, i would be walking around cursing myself for days.

The big 3, cable, ethernet and phone.
Phone and ethernet in kitchen.
All 3 in all bedrooms and living room.
And if you’re doing a homerun, place it in the closet.
