Window bars - landmark?

Hello – We are considering removing the bars from our garden level apartment windows in a landmark building. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it require landmarks approval and, if so, will they approve removing the bars? Thanks in advance for all advice.

99 out of 100 buildings have garden window bars. You would be making yourself a target for a break in.

If the bars were installed prior to landmarking (i.e. original), the answer is definitely no.

I’m pretty sure it requires approval, but call LPC to check. They’re pretty easy to deal with.
