Will architect or expediter serve as consultant?
We are looking at a three-family house, that appears it may already have been re done without proper permits. (It’s clearly been re done and there are no permit filings online). We want to use it as a single family. It does not appear that the house needs any renovations now, but I’m concerned what we will need to do when that day comes (e.g. permit issues, bringing anything up to code, the special requirements for multi unit dwellings like sprinklers).
Will an architect or expeditor serve as a consultant (even for a fee) at the pre-purchase stage in this type of situation? Basically, we just want to understand what our issues could be down the road for buying a three family to use as a one family..
If anyone has any recommendations for such a consultant, please let me know!
Thanks
