Where to get metal gate for garden level entry replaced

We just moved into a townhouse and need to put in a new locking metal gate/door for the entry to the garden level. Can anyone recommend a place to get a nice one that will also install? Thanks!

Vinnie’s did a beautiful job for us as well. At their advice, I found an old gate at the salvage place in the Lowe’s parking lot that was the wrong size and shape and in poor shape, which Vinnie’s reworked and restored to fit our space. Starting from an existing gate saved a lot of money since they did not have to do all of the intricate work from scratch.

I would still stick with the mortise, sounds like you made the right choice. The deadbolt might be harder to kick in, but I know that mortise locks are very secure in their own right. I was not currently looking to have an iron gate made, but I’ll keep Vinnie’s in mind, especially since you get the chance to design your own gate. Who doesn’t love a little creative freedom?

designed my own and had it made and installed by Vinnie’s. https://www.vinniesironworksny.com
One of the few contractors that didn’t drive me nuts. Had them install with mortise lock that i provided them which fit the same keys as rest of my house. (i’d prob just get a deadbolt if i had to do over instead of mortise). Might be cheaper if you don’t design yours from scratch and build from salvage door but anyway i would (will) use them again.

Look at the iron place behind Lowe’s on 11th St. They sometimes have them.

Look for an iron works or where steel custom basement doors are made. A gate door may be fabricated for you.
