What to do when architect of record dies
I just learned that the architect of record on our gut renovation died a few days ago. Does anyone know how the DOB deals with us situations? This was our third architect and I liked her. (The first one got sick and quit, the second quit because we didn’t agree on design and he wanted us to sign on for major architectural involvement at $$). Our GC suggests going back to number 2; the two of them have worked together over the years. There is no design work to do – it’s a matter of dealing the DOB objections.

We have a great Engineer/Architect, but he is on the high end of cost since he is on the high end of value and service.
I will say that you should look for more than just competent for a job where they are taking over someone else’s work; that can get messy

PS – if anyone has an architect to recommend – reliable, competent at dealing with the DOB, and not super-star expensive – please let me know.
