Washing machine problem

We recently switched from a top loader to a front loader, and the new front loader vibrates excessively and shakes the floor (it’s in a top floor apartment). We’d like to return it for a refund and purchase a new, more expensive top loader. Both the retailer and the maker are giving us the runaround. We feel the machine should be labelled “suitable for installation on a concrete pad only.” Anyone know the proper procedure or the magic words to use?

Thank you so much everyone for your insight. This saga has a happy ending. I told the retailer I would notify the attorney general they and the maker had fraudulently failed to disclose the machine must be used on a concrete floor and not a wood floor, and had I known this I would never have bought the machine, per the NY State Consumer Protection Act. The maker agreed to take back the machine, and the retailer reimbursed me almost 100 percent (minus delivery and installation). Here is the Consumer Protection Act: https://nyc-business.nyc.gov/nycbusiness/description/consumer-protection-law

Precision Appliance has fixed multiple installations that multiple GCs and handymen have improperly performed for me so that the new washing machine no longer violently shook after the improper install was resolved. If you want to avoid a 3rd party service vendor charge then you might request 1 year warranty service via manufacturer website. However, that might allow manufacturer to identify and report that they found the machine to be improperly installed (if this is the case) which could conceivably put you at fault for damaging via improperly installing. If you are 100% sure you properly installed then you might request warranty service visit for “violent shaking” and press the matter of returning for refund via that process of “your technician was not able to resolve the violent shaking defect” https://bklynservice.com

cate, i tried to post a few days back but site was not working.

who unpacked and set this up? did that person follow the directions? i ask because washing machines are shipped with packing material and even screwed in material between the housing a drum inside to isolate the drum during transit. i set one up once and did not remove these materials and the machine went crazy.

Small Claims Court?

Thanks, Bob. The machine is level and not moving. The vibrations though are extreme. I don’t think shimming would make a difference. Possibly a pad of some kind or additional reinforcement could help a bit but neither are feasible in this spot. Our plumber, the installer, and the repairman the maker sent out all say these machines vibrate too much for a wood floor, they are only suitable for concrete. But the maker and retailer won’t allow a refund, even though they didn’t disclose the need for a concrete pad.

Could the machine be shimmed so that it doesn;t bounce around?
