Video Secruity System With Intercom

We live in a 10-unit co-op and we are looking to upgrade our antiquated intercom system.

We would like to install a door buzzer entry system with video camera on the outside of the building and an answering unit in each apartment.

Can anyone recommend any vendors for such a system ?

lol @landlord thats a good point…..i think you can get battery backup and we still have a “key” to the lock we can use, its just faster with the keyfobs/cards etc. eg i just have my card in the back of my phone case and just swipe it near the reader and opens up, eg dont even need to slow down walking etc.

deanbh – I was thinking of getting a video intercom. My concern with getting a keyless entry is the event of a blackout. If there is no power to the building, how will the tenants gain access?

Hi,

Might be able to help you there.

We just replaced our voice only intercom with an ABB video intercom from Lock and Tech in Brooklyn . Call Vinny on (877) 715-6252 and let him know that Dean from 135 Henry St recommended them.

One of the reasons we chose to go with the ABB model was that we were able to get Paxton “key fobs” and “cards” for keyless entry.

We went with the ABB 4.3” M22311 internal displays which are cool because if someone buzzes your apartment and you aren’t home it takes a photo of them with an indicator when you get home (think ….answering machine for your front door).

Cost was about 6k for our apartment (6 apt building) eg probably about $9 – 10k for 10 apartments and there were able to use the existing wiring no problems.

Happy to answer any specific questions but i’d go with the same vendor/system again.
