Verizon Fios Availability

I am sick of Spectrum and it’s spotty internet coverage (like many, I assume).

A few months back I saw Verizon Fios doing work on my block, and they said internet service would be available in 6 weeks or so. They told me to call general customer service for updates. As far as I can tell, service is still not available and the general customer service line has no idea/way to get an update.

Has anyone had Fios service established in their area recently / have any way to check when it will be available? I’m dying to try something else.

They have been a frequently hired subcontracted right of way access agent. They helped me move into a couple of blocks faster than would have happened otherwise. It can help if you tell them you will help coordinate access with neighboring property owners. We have Fios on our block now. And not so coincidentally, Optimum’s quality of service improved enough at same time for me to be less motivated to switch

We had Fios finally get installed in 2016 in our condo building in Soho, and I switched the very first day, with the same frustrations with Spectrum. I lived with it for 6 years and found it pretty mediocre as well – not the huge upgrade I had always envisioned. After moving to the row house early this year, I had to switch back, because no Fios of course. At that time, the Fios rep said it showed us getting access in around 6 months. Obviously never happened. Now I am stuck with mediocre Spectrum, with mediocre Fios still not an option, haha. The reps at Fios have no idea when you will get it.
