Urban Gardening and food storage?

Have any of you had any success with gardening indoors? Specifically veggies?

I like to keep a lot of ingredients on hand as well. Do any of you have any tips and tricks on making it all fit together in an organized and nice fashion? I hate having to throw stuff out that has gone bad.
