Tree identification in Brooklyn
We have a large, beautiful tree in front of our building in Bushwick. It is currently (mid-August) blooming with yellowish-white flowers. They are a bit of a nuisance since they are coming down in high volume, covering cars, sidewalks and streets with a white-yellowish pillow. I have been trying to figure out what type of tree it is. I believe it is a honey locust, but my neighbors think not. The tree is very common in Brooklyn, almost every block has some. Does anyone has an idea?

NYC Parks dept have a street tree map here: https://tree-map.nycgovparks.org/#treeinfo-3763647. It’s definitely not definitive (the tree in front of my house is incorrectly identified) but may be of help.

Call the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and ask for the Help Desk, or bring a leaf over there and head to their Library where the Help Desk Staff are.
