tree guards

Hi everyone,
Our block association recently found out that the tree guards rule has changed and now the city only provides them for newly planted trees. This is an issue for protecting older trees and for any block beautification efforts. I’m pasting a link to a peition to change this rule. Please sign and share. Thanks!

The free guards were a Marty Markowitz program. You can order guards from The Tree Trust & they take care of permits, installation, etc. AND! the costs are tax deductible as a charitable donation.

Even newly planted trees don’t “need” them, but tree guards beautify the block, discourage dog-owners from using tree pits as comfort stations for their pete, and encourage homeowners to plant.

My block association was able to get tree guards installed for most trees a few years ago; they look beautiful!
