Trampoline -- dispose, sell, give away?

We have a large trampoline (10′ diam I think) in our back yard. We want to get rid of it. It is probably about 7 years old. On one hand, it works just fine – springs. mat, netting, etc. On the other, it has seen its share of wear and tear. Among other things, squirrels have eaten all the foam surrounding the poles that hold up the netting. And, of course, trampolines are dangerous.

Advice on best way to get rid of this? Is it at all worth trying to sell? Just put it out on the sidewalk on a warm sunny Saturday and hope someone takes it away? If we need sanitation to take it, do we put it out with the garbage? Make a special arrangement? At least we have a side alley so I don’t have to take it through the house.

My niece and nephew have a Skywalker 14 foot trampoline https://cozzy.org/best-rectangle-trampolines/ They are 12 and 14 and still use it nearly every day. They can both jump together, and as it has an enclosure they use it as a kind of den with their mates.

This is not related to questions about getting rid of it, but I am curious about your experiences having one, and others that you know. Would you recommend against getting one? We have two 7 year olds (twins) and they are super active. Would love to find something to get them outside and expending energy…but they are not the most careful or gentle bunch, so I have my doubts. Any advice?

Yeah, this goes against my interest here, but don’t google it. Lots of advice out there as to dangers. of a trampoline. Plenty of parents make an informed choice to get one anyway, and we have other friends with trampolines as well, but still . . .

I can post pictures tonight or tomorrow; we are in South Slope. I would say it is easy to take the poles and safety net off. Not so sure about taking the rest of it apart.
