Timing of pest control during renovation?

Planning a near gut renovation, any advice on when I should call in the exterminator to treat for pests? The house has mice and some minor signs of termite damage. I was going to call them in a few weeks once the walls are open to make it easier to see the extent any potential damage and treat for termites. But now I’m wondering if I need to call them in now sooner in order to kill possible termites/pests before work starts?

Termite damage is one thing and always needs careful remediation. But for most other pests, the renovation work itself should be enough to get rid of them. Mice and cockroaches will be driven away by all the activity, not to say sealed up behind new surfaces.

I am in a similar situation. I would suggest ASAP because it’s breeding season and you want to prevent further damage of the structure. We already met with a termite specialist and he suggested the same thing. We will need to re-grade the yard to drain away from the house and replace the main beam and sister some joists, so we will be doing the pest control ASAP once we close on the house to prevent further damage.
