Terrible luck with carpenters - desperately need someone to finish a cedar fence

Long story short — I’ve had a run of bad luck with carpenters ghosting, etc.. etc… and here I am with a fence that’s 80% finished (all the wood sitting in my yard ready to go) and would love to get done before winter. I’ve hired a carpenter on task rabbit to finish it. If I didn’t have a gazillion other things in my place that I’m handling, I might have the energy to tackle this — but I just don’t at the moment and really don’t want it to drag on to next spring.

I looked at the photo as well and thought there must be more to it. Boo is right,if that is all there is, can you give it a whirl?

Btw, fencing seems to fall into a sort of landscape catagory. Maybe hardscape. That may be why others are not responding. They might not understand what is involved.

Looking at the photo, is there no way you’d just want to finish it yourself? We find the most reliable contractor is us, that is about as simple a fence as one could build, and the “hard” part has already been done. It’s just cutting and attaching a couple of boards.

A good handy person should be able to get through it. Don’t try actual carpenters. I am a carpenter. Any good carpenter would be too busy to take sometjing like this on and the ones that want to take it on are probably not carpenters but handymen getting in over their heads.

Even if you find a handyman who has never done this before, if he is worth his salt and wants to do it, their are plenty of books out there. But they have to have the inclination to learn.
