Synthetic slate or slate shingles?

Hi all,

I’m in the middle of building a house and we were confused whether to go with the synthetic slate or the slate roof shingles for the roof. We need 290 bundles with caps and waterproofing (ice shield, etc). The quote I just received for the synthetic slate seems high for installation and material and I was hoping to get some price points from others who have gone this route over the slate roof shingles. But I just came to know that synthetic slate has a high maintenance cost compared to slate roof shingles.

I am strongly in the favor of going with the slate roof shingles ( https://www.ncslate.com/products/ ) but before that, I thought I can take suggestions from few others as the roof is gonna stay for a lifetime. So what do you guys think will be a good option?
