Stoop re-paint
Our painted brownstone stoop is chipping quite a bit. Does anyone have any recommendations for re-painting over a brownstone stoop. We can not afford to redo it back to brownstone but it is only chipped paint, no structural damage. Thanks

Please do not paint stucco or any masonry. Use a cementitious paint product. This means if you have paint on it now you should remove it. The problem with paint is it traps moisture in the stucco which can freeze and cause serious damage to the stoop, while a cementitious paint will allow it to breathe and evaporate the trapped moisture. So it’s not just unsightly when it peels, but could end up costing you thousands to repair or replace.
