Solar Power Installers

Hi Fellow Brownstoners,
We are looking to have solar installed, have one quote already and would like a second quote. Always a safe way to go, yes? Are there any particular solar power installers that everyone likes out there? Thanks in advance for your input.

We used Venture Solar because our house has a sloped roof. Brooklyn Solar Works only does systems on flat-roofed houses. It seems like there are very few solar contractors who will work in Brooklyn and have the inside knowledge to deal with NYC DoB, etc.

We used Brooklyn Solar Works. They are not the cheapest. Here’s why they are worth it: they provide detailed quotes of the costs vs. anticipated energy and tax savings; they help you apply for some of the tax credits; they provide diagrams/drawings of your installation; they are available on the phone to discuss questions/issues; they will follow up after the installation. In sum, they are professionals. After 22 years of owning a Brooklyn brownstone, we can honestly say this was one of our best contractor experiences.
