Sloping Floors

I purchased a renovated brownstone and noticed the floors on the top floors are slightly sloped. I’m concerned it may be joist or foundation issues. Does anyone have any advice or contractor recommendations to assess.

I don’t think there is a level floor anywhere on the top three floors of our house. Yet the house is still standing, more than 150 years after construction.

When I lived on 14th Street, in Park Slope, we rented an apartment on the top floor of a house with a noticeable slant, visible even from outside. When I drive by >40 years later the house is still standing.

my renovated brownstone also has slightly sloped floors here and there, one floor has the joists exposed and if you look closely you can see they are not perfecly straight. i guess that is what happens to wood frames over 130+ years. old house charm, right?!

Recent sloping with cracks in the ceiling/walls? Or typical old house sloping and it’s probably been that way for years? Most old buildings have slightly sloped floors.
