Skylight that meets fall protection guidelines

We want to put in a large skylight in our condo (approx 4×8) and the Board is requesting that include provisions for fall protection. Since we don’t want any ugly screens or guard rails, does anyone know of attractive structural skylights that have glazing that is thick enough to provide fall protection?
We particularly like the pyramid shape skylights.

Also with regards to smaller……..if you went for the multiple unit option you could go remote controlled opening with the new velux units.

I’ve never understood when people put in skylights…..but then dont make them openable….

I would advise thinking carefully about the size of the skylight. I recently replaced three huge skylights with two smaller ones for a client. The difference was astonishing – no more blinding light and heat (they are north facing), the smaller sizes frame the sky and the difference at night is tremendous. Skylights are fine to let in more daylight but at night they can be dark ceiling spaces. Sometimes less really is more….

Pyramid skylights are installed on a built up curb, so shouldn’t have a problem with fall protection.
Way to go in your case.

Considering the large size (4×8) typical flat roof skylight will not work unless you mull several units togethe, and there still isn’t much to do other then gate off the skylight.
The weight for structural glass would be too great for just about any skylight company.
