Short term removal of front door saddle?
Dear neighbors and experts,
Can you recommend how to remove this marble door saddle between our foyer and the vestibule without breaking it or the floor or walls around it? We need to see what’s under it and possibly do some pest treatment there and then put it back. Obviously we would like to preserve all components as much as possible.
Many thanks for your advice,
Jane

so others know what will happen here (op contacted me outside of here)- this old marble will be soft and will probably have fissures in it that we cannot see where it sits. if anyone were to try to remove it, it would crumble.
the saddle is set on a bed of mortar. that mortar underneath has cracked and shifted around a little at this point.
for those who are unsure of what allows me to know this, i run a company that does restoration work and change about a half dozen entry saddles a year.
