Sewer ejector pump

Hi,

Has anyone used a sewer ejector pump in their cellars? Are there brands that are more reliable than others? Any advice is appreciated given that my plumber won’t volunteer any info since it’s extra work for him.

Thank you.

You have a bathroom in your cellar, right? Otherwise a sump pump would work. I’ve had a lot of sump pumps, both Liberty and Zoeller have been fine. I don’t know the brand of the one sewer ejector pump I’ve had, but I had to get this product from Grainger to dissolve toilet paper so it wouldn’t keep getting tangled in the machine.

Bond – I don’t know enough to worry about reliability of one over another. I was wondering if any brand is better than other. I’ve been hearing the name Liberty used. But this two-pump model sounds interesting, will research further. Thanks!

If you’re worried about reliability, get a basin with redundant pumps (it has two pumps, so if one goes out, the other kicks in) Last time I looked, they were around $1500 (not counting installation).
