Seeking hands-on drain master plumber reccos!

Hi all, we’re seeking a mom and pop style brooklyn plumbing business who specializes in drains. We’d appreciate if there was a master plumber included in the investigation because we have a mystery sewer smell that spreads through the house and several other plumbers haven’t diagnosed the cause. House is 1920s and has a pit style sewer trap in the basement. Can anyone recommend a reputable company to service our home? Many thanks!

This post is a great example of the difference between a contractor and a skilled tradesman! Nothing to contractors, but when a homeowner says their contractor installed the boiler or the radiators I tell them to sit down because we are likely about to take out what was just installed.

I’m am licensed Master Plumber and as a rule my company gives out any sewer and drain cleaning work we get to a trusted sewer and drain cleaning company. We learned decades ago that if you’re not going to own and maintain all the modern drain cleaning snakes and cameras, and employ techs who know how to use them properly, then don’t bother buying any of it. Drain cleaning is done by “feel”. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. I respect sewer cleaners as much as I do any other trade.

ES and DS is a drain cleaning company with a plumbing license… that is all they do…so you get someone who understands drain issues as their main line of work. They have a crew, but in my experience with them they are really honest and affordable

I have experienced so many scenarios that now I know better. It gets specialized; people who do steam boilers, ones that know oil boilers, people that only do HE condensing boilers (down to different brands), drain/sewer folks, HVAC + boiler experience, radiant heat specialists etc. The worst part is some of then will say they know something then do a terrible job and leave the customer hanging.

Take Eman’s advice, and he’s a plumber.

Thanks for the rec. Can you explain further why a plumber wouldn’t be right for this job? I’m open to anything and just trying to figure this out. Also, with Electric sewer, do you know who comes and services? The owner ?
