Sauna in cellar

Anybody have a sauna in their cellar? What kind and where exactly did it go? In conjunction with a bathroom? How was it laid out? What size was it? Where did you get it? Our cellar currently has a shower/sink/toilet, positioned in typical brownstone fashion, centered in the house and on a party wall, and we want to expand it to include both a sauna and a bathtub and we’re wondering how this would be laid out.

I’m gonna go for it! And I appreciate the suggestions. But my questions remain – how to lay it out? parallel or perpindicular to the house? Does it lead into the shower? where does a tub go? Any brands to recommend?
I actually have plenty of space – basement is 20*57.

Guys, chill. They cost $2000 at Home Depot and use an electric heating element. No permits or plumbing needed. It’s just a hot room made of wood that fits 2-4 people. What on earth would that have to do with resale value of the house?

don’t do it unless you really want to damage the resale value of your house. just about the only idea worse than a basement sauna is an aboveground backyard pool.

I’ve had clients consider installing them in the past but no one has ever taken the plunge for a number of reasons – space, budget, and amount of usage being the most prevalent. I would recommend going the pre-fab route as these companies can assist you with all of your queries.

I would think your bigger issue will be how the heating system works (gas? electric?) and the code issues surrounding this sort of thing.
