Safety near Gowanus Houses in Boerum Hill

We’re looking at an apartment on Wyckoff street across from these NYCHA projects and are seeking insight on the noise levels and crime we can expect. We’re quite familiar with the neighborhood and not naive re: the property’s violent history, e.g. drug dealing in the public spaces and occasional violent crime on the property (though it sounds like that is usually on the Bond St side). Just curious if it has been improving as we have two small children and are concerned loud parties in the summertime may keep them up. Any input is welcome.
