Yep, “multiple dwelling” is a dwelling which is either rented, leased, let or hired out, to be occupied, or is occupied as the residence or home of three or more families living independently of each other.

Arkady, I believe a two-family is not a “multiple dwelling” under the NYC Admin. Code, so it would not apply. I am sure someone here will correct me if I am wrong.

Does it apply to any multiple dwelling – for instance a brownstone w/ one tenant?
