Replacing door to storage underneath stoop stairs.

I currently have a solid steel (and stuck closed) door to the storage area under the stoop stairs. Lots of people have said that it is much better to have something that can allow for air circulation. Anyone how has found or has a solution they like, it would be great to see what people have done. I’m hoping to generally clean up and make that entryway more finished.

Ha! Well the stoop is forever leaking (despite all kinds of effort to waterproof) so it was pretty much inevitable. We actually emptied it out entirely for a rat for a bit, but use it for bike storage (not our bikes).

Our solution was to get rid of the door altogether. (We still have a locking iron work door to the exterior for security.)

I think an ironworks might be able to unstick your existing steel door and add a grill, or simply drill vent holes. Cleaned up and painted it might look good.

We had the same issue – you can get it unstuck if you are patient by tugging a bit on it every day (in the summer). The door needs to be taken out and the frame could be shaved down a little. The area needs to breathe so options are adding a grille in a new wood door. We leveled the floor inside and in the vestibule with self leveling cement and added a few simple wood shelves to one side.
