Replacement door knob for under stoop security gate.

I need to replace the door knob for the gate under our stoop. The gate is pretty standard and it has a Marks bolt. the door knobs are those sorts that don’t go all the way through. I can only find the cheapest of cheap polished brass ones like the one that just broke on me after very few years of service. Does anyone know what the technical name for this type is and any suggestions where to get good quality ones? Thank you

hey bill (resto contractor) i don’t think my free offer will work with the set up he has. it seems marks made this entire other set up for the steel gates; the complete locks are in the catalog. of course, if OP is into free junk and altering things that may or may not work, he is welcome to them; the people reading here do not want to get into that nonsense – great way to learn, not such a good way to live. i would not try baldwin in this case, due to your question about the spindle.

I would take Steve up on his kind (and free) offer.
Steve, do you think Baldwin might work? I have installed similar looking Baldwin knobs, but the stem may be a different size?
If Baldwin works it would at least give him a nicer aesthetic range of choices.

they are in my wholesale catalog but that does not mean i wish to order them. the Makrs part number appears to be K22/3 (i think the 3 is for brass). it looks like they come in a pair and retail for about $40.

it is better to show the brand of lock as well because the holes for the various brands do not always line up. but i would bet yours is a Marks. they are through bolted and i hate those. i often throw the knobs and trim plates out when i have to buy a lockset for the lock case and it has those knobs. i might have some here, but they would be on the rectangular trim plates. not sure if the small inner plate would fit under the mortise cylinder. not sure if you want to cut the plates to fit (it is something i would do on say my shop door or something like my garage but NOT a customer’s house). so they must be available with just a round mortise on them. check Marks USA’s website. here is the thing, even if Marks has them, i do not think my wholesaler carries them so they may be hard to find. might be mail order. check the edge of your lock to be sure it is a marks. maybe later i will see if my wholesaler has any.

and if it is a marks and y ou wish to try any of the squarish plated and knobs and can find your way to 11379 (and if i have not thrown all mine away) you can have a couple for free.
