repair window screens

We are in Bayridge, BK. We live with two cats and I want to be sure that all window screens are repaired. Some of the window screens in our house have rips.
Do I need to measure windows and order new screens with frames? Should I bring existing screens to be repaired somewhere? Anything you would recommend?
Alternativly, should I attempt to order mesh and try fixing it myself. I do not want to glue on patch, I want new screens.

I have found that companies that handle glass (window repair, mirrors) often also handle screens. It’s more affordable if they can remove the screen to repair it at their shop vs. repairing it in situ. If you can bring them the screens, and install them yourself, it will no doubt be even more reasonable.

If the frames are good you can get the materials and do this yourself.

I had a good experience with Master Window Repair (www.masterwindowrepair.com) about two years ago in a rental. They came by, fixed the balances on a couple of windows so they’d stay open, and also re-screened several window screens, doing all the work on site just out front. I looked it up and they charged $45 per window screen, which was a lot less than trying to get new ones, and the work has held up well.
