Removing extra electrical meters

Has anyone ever had extra electrical meters removed? What’s the process you have to go through? What will ConEd check before doing it?

Pretty sure if you call Con Ed and say you don’t want to pay the basic electric service charges for that meter anymore they will come out and either lock or remove the meter. They do it all the time for folks that don’t pay their electric bills. Now putting it back in the future will likely be tougher. I know for gas meters if you completely turn off service for a period over than 1 year, you’ll need to have the line pressure tested before they will turn it back on.
