Recommend home design websites for upcoming renovation?

We will be embarking on a 2 floor renovation for our townhouse soon, and I need some sources for design ideas. I’ve looked at Houzz but it’s overwhelming how much is on there and how many different styles are represented. Any good sources for modern, clean design (with some colorful stuff too) that has examples of kitchens, bathrooms, and storage spaces (ie closets, shelving). Sources with ideas for doing renovation on a budget are great too!

Remodelista.com is the best, hands down. Buy the Remodelista book and literally memorize it. I got an endless amount of incredible design as well as high/low, money saving secrets and advice from them. And the site is a goldmine. Also Elle Deco UK magazine is a lot more helpful with interiors than the “high end” Elle Decor and other American deco mags. Pinterest is your best friend, make a board for everything. Houzz can be part of the picture but I found their suburban-skewed and also often Home Depot-ish renovations dont work for city homes old or new. Also the fact that you can’t pin their photos drove me straight up a wall.

I’ve had good luck getting ideas from pinterest – it can take some key word searching, but once you find a picture/look you like its easy to find more in a similar vein.

I haven’t read it in a while, but Apartment Therapy used to feature some budget renovations, and small space/ storage solutions. Dwell Magazine features a lot of modern kitchen/ bath design– most of it is higher end but not all of it.
