Radiator Valves

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a radiator steam valve brand?  I’m not talking about the valve that opens and closes the steam supply, but rather the other valve where the steam flows out.  I seem to remember reading on this website that there are temperature-sensitive or adjustable valves which can be installed to regulate the draw of steam through the radiator.

PS: They both need a fixed standard air vent as well, so take your pick from the reccos above.

>only reliable variable one pipe steam vent … No. Thermostatic vents have no moving parts and are practically 19th century technology (in the good way, mature.) I have both of these,. Takes 5 mins to install if you have the space…Armstrong feels better to the touch and has more options. I paid abt $75\. Put ’em on fewer than 1/2 your radiators (I have 4 out of 9) and it won’t ‘unbalance’ the system.  the only reliable variable one pipe steam vent is made by Danfoss, but not a DIY job http://na.heating.danfoss.com/Content/70dcd76b-3184-48d9-b816-90ff00818f18_MNU17411329_SIT209.html

Gorton gets my vote any day..Maid O’Mist is not a great product. Variable vents are just a poorly executed idea, since they endlessly unbalance a steam system

Gorton and Hoffman are most popular. Maid O’Mist makes the adjustable ones and they’re loud, don’t last long and are prone to spit water. Fixed-capacity vents are a more reliable product.
