pricing and recommendations for under-stoop security gates
I’m getting bids for replacement gates and have gotten a range from $1,500-$10,000. In the $1,500-$2,500 range are standard, stock gates with straight bars. In the $3,500-$10,000 range are custom fabricated, detailed, “landmark” designs. I’d love to hear what others have paid and what seems appropriate. Also, any good or bad experiences with iron-workers would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Finding the right shape and size even with some adjustments may take some searching and checking repeatedly for new arrivals. But the aesthetics and quality can’t be beat!

Yes, most architectural salvage places will have plenty of these. I’m all for paying local trades and craftspeople, but it’s even better if you can reuse something that already exists.

I bought an antique cast iron decorative gate and had it altered to fit my space by an iron worker for less than that. I did clean up and prime and paint it myself to keep cost down
