poorly venting range hood
hello,
i think my contractor piggybacked onto existing ductwork when installing our new range hood. it has not worked and now i am interested in getting this properly venting. the kitchen is in the rear of parlor level and near a window, but it seems as though the original kitchen chimney has been removed, making it nearly impossible to vent through the roof without major disruption. any ideas on who i could talk to about getting this properly done?

Most kitchen range hoods on Parlor floors are vented up and then a 95 degree angle through a soffit either through the top of the upper cabinets or at ceiling level to and through the outside wall to the back of the building.
If your kitchen is to the front, or in the middle then this is not an option.
Very rarely are kitchen range hoods vented through chimney flues due to boilers and hot water heaters using those flues.

Can’t you just vent thru wall to outside?
