Polychrome Striated Brick Work History

Hi,
There are several homes around Brooklyn that are almost exact replicas of each other. All are polychromatic striated brick work. Maybe there is a more accurate description of these homes, but I am not the most up to date with the architecture terminology.

Anyways, does anyone know anything about how these came to be? Who designed them, or why they were cut out copies of each other? Records show they were built around 1899. All feature eagle ornaments on the roof or over the awning.

After several hours of trying to locate information my self, I need to throw in the white flag and need some professional expertise!

Those homes weren’t built as-is in 1899. They were simply gut renovated and built out in the early 2000’s by the same developer. Another example of such a developer would be greenpoint’s belvedere buildings. I presume they do these cut out copies as a testament to their wealth/business.
