Plumber to Install Gas Grill to Gas Line

I’m looking for a licensed plumber or other qualified provider to connect my gas grill to the gas line. We have routed the gas line outside for this purpose, just need someone to install it.

This is not how it is done. Gas line cannot be filed without having gas appliance listed in application. Then, only plumber of record can work under this particular permit, otherwise it is work without permit violation. Permit is good only for the plumber of record. After appliance is installed, finish inspection must be conducted and only then permit must be closed. If someone, other than plumber of record, or his direct employee , was doing physical work under this permit, and plumber of record conducted finish inspection, signoff and closed permit, then it is cover up work, and plumber will lose its licence for a period of time or forever.

I guess these plumbers will not be available for few years. But worth waiting. Anyway, any alterations, testing, addition , subtraction, I mean, ANYTHING gas line, must be filed with DOB, done by licensed plumber , inspected and signed off.

Not sure what the questions is here. If you have a line and have bought a natural gas grill, you simply need to connect the flexible hose from the grill to the line. You may need to connect a fitting to the valve to make it work, but this is not difficult. Any handyman with minimal skills can do this.

I agree with DIBS and would probably do this myself. HOWEVER. if the OP is uncomfortable and needs a professional for peace of mind that’s money well spent. I’ve used Stanley Lewis plumbing for numerous small jobs and am pretty sure that they’d do this one.

Any licensed installer (not required to be a plumber) can do it legally. If you bought your grill in NY, ask at the place where you bought it. Otherwise ask at any gas appliance store and see if they will do this for you. Probably cost about $75-100.

It’s a small job (too small for some plumbers) and I imagine wouldn’t take long, but given the safety concerns with gas lines, I’d like to have a professional do it. I’m sure the line itself needs to be permitted and installed to code (proper valve at the terminus and the correct gas piping) but, as with replacing a stove, I find it hard to believe that a permit is needed for the installation of the actual grill which oftentimes (if you have the space to do so) they are removed and stored for the winter. But the line itself is a different story, which the OP says is already installed. Yes, any plumber is capable of doing it but it’s also something that I would do myself.

Legal if filed and approved, yes, at least in 2006 it was. Of course you are free to do it without filing, but that’s quite the physical and liability risk you’d be taking on.
