Plaster crown molding costs

Anyone get plaster crown molding recently and willing to share what I should expect in terms of of costs. I understand it will vary by complexity but a general range would be be helpful. Mine is about 4″ inches wide and 2″ inches deep. Thank you

Alex would have been my first choice. His craftsmanship is impeccable but some of the others are excellent. Alex is a gentleman. However, I can’t wait around for people who are busy as stuff inevitably gets delayed

Re Decocraft, don’t judge by their site which is awful – the site inventory is not exactly historically accurate. They have a separate custom service where they do repair and restoration. I did find them very meticulous in their process.

I got Urban Plaster and Brooklyn Plaster mixed up. I had narrowed down to Brooklyn Plaster not Urban Plaster. Urban’s work is a bit too streamlined and modern for me. Jason has done a good job marketing himself, has a more visible presence on blogs and sites.The others rely on word of mouth, have long standing relationships with architects and contractors who continually refer them.

I kept away from Bestwall and European Plaster. I am guessing the latter could be ok.

I’m actually really excited you liked Alex, and also very happy to hear that he’s been busy which hopefully means he’ll continue to be available in the future. Not only is he very talented, but he seems to genuinely like and take pride in making awesome plaster mouldings.

It’s true, I did not identify Absolute or Bob during my search. I do have some plaster mouldings coming up, so I’m interested to see how your project turns out, though I may end up running them on site again given that it sounds like prices are up and folks are booked.

FWIW I felt like decocraft is like the Dykes of plaster mouldings. I mean they are better than that, and they have a good setup, but something just looked off to me about their work, and and they don’t install. Speaking of plasterers knowing eachother, they also all know Jason, and none spoke highly of him, but that may just be plaster politics. I’ve seen his work and it looked okay. I felt his portfolio was a little weaker tha n the others, and his pricing a little higher, but I appreciate his aggressive entry into the space and I think most folks would be pleased with his work.

Alex from Ionic was wonderful – great recommendation!

I did not talk to Cliff but he was mentioned. All of the people I mentioned above, including Ionic all know one another and they know Cliff. and Raul as well. You may not have talked to Absolute or Bob as I got their names via word for mouth.

Some of the old time plasterers never made a website or marketed themselves and you only end up finding them through another tradesperson.

@Dfreed1 I’ve narrowed it down to Decocraft, Absolute Plastering, Urban Plaster and a guy named Bob. I would also vouch for Ionic Casting which was Urbandad’s recommendation but they are very busy. Raul Agrippa would be another option.

janedrew, does that work out to be about 4,000 for a small entry? It sounds pricey but not unheard of. Prices seem to have gone up a lot recently (at least that was our experience). You might try bargaining or getting a bid from two others.
