Pet safe exterminator

Hi, We are in a two family house and our upstairs tenants have seen a mouse. We need to find a good exterminator but we have 2 cats in our apartment below. I’m nervous about poisons being used and a poisoned mouse migrating downstairs, getting caught by a cat, and then poisoning the cat.
Has anyone dealt with this in a safe way, or used an eco-friendly exterminator successfully?
Any input or advise greatly appreciated. Thanks

You have to find and close up all the holes. That’s the only way. Don’t use poison at all, and especially don’t use tracking powder. We have found we have to close up new holes every five years or so. The mice are persistent.

I’ve successfully caught mice with glue traps. I’d save the money on an exterminator and try this first. Put some peanut butter in the middle of the trap and make sure it’s large enough so the mouse has to step on the glue to get to the peanut butter.
