Peeved Board
I’m renovating the kitchen in my co-op and have run afoul of the board and need some advice on how to handle the situation. The plumber installed a water line to the refrigerator by running a line down through my floor down to the basement. (I live on the first floor). The plumber didn’t inform me of this either before or after the work. I hadn’t moved into the place so I haven’t been there when work goes on. This kind of installation required board approval and likely city permits so the board is steamed, rightfully so. I spoke to the plumber, who’s licensed, and he says the work is up to code. But the board is requesting I provide documentation on the installation for the board to review or have the line removed. But they aren’t being specific about what to provide. Before I talk to the plumber again what documentation should I ask him for? Thanks.

Have the plumber write a letter citing the relevant code and provide photos. Not sure what code is when it runs through the floor. I would be surprised if that installation allows the tradional coiled copper line from one floor to another. In either case, it needs to be on it’s own valve and not just a saddle connection.
