Patio/Drainage/Fence Installer

We recently bought/moved into a two family in Cypress Hills. We have a long backyard that slopes into the house, and though the water issue hasn’t been anything damaging so far, I feel like the drainage could be updated as it takes a few days after a heavy rain for the moistness to completely dissipate from the backyard area.
We’re also want to install pavers and a privacy fence (most likely board on board) . Would this be one contractor for both fencing and masonry work, or separate for the fence and the patio/drainage?
Can anyone recommend a contractor for both jobs or either? I tried Anthony the Mason (who I found on this forum) and he can’t even look at the job until November…

P.S. We did look at physical samples of the light cedar and the dark/red cedar. The light was vastly more believable. The dark was less so.

@newpotato –Our fence was installed by Fence R Us. You can contact Rich at fenceruscorp@gmail.com. I don’t think he had samples when we met him, but we had already seen the actual materials elsewhere (another contractor, but I don’t recall which one). Nevertheless, I would try him and ask for samples. He also sells another product which is more expensive, but we thought it looked less believable (it has a physical, molded woodgrain pattern, but it just seemed fake even in the pictures).

@namahs -Sure thing, I just met with a contractor for the patio/masonry work, and there is a strong chance that i will go with them as they seemed very competent and professional and their price was fair. Unfortunately though they can’t do the job for about a month (understandably it’s their busy season). I’m meeting with another contractor today about both the fence and the masonry work and I will come back and repost once I’ve decided who I’m going with.

@SoSlope- Is there somewhere local that has samples of this fencing that I could see in person? Some of the pics on the website look pretty good, but, like you, I have a high threshold of what I think passes. Having now learned the reality of how much maintenance a house takes, eliminating upkeep of a wooden fence sounds pretty appealing.

@booisgolden- I believe I’m already a part of the neighborhood group, just didn’t think anyone had a specific fence or patio guy. See you Wednesday in the park?

I know about a windows and doors company madison which does patio door installer, Canglow windows and doors inc http://canglow.ca/doors/patio-doors/. I can’t guarantee you much because I availed their services exactly a year back. Check for their reviews online and collect maximum feedback from your locality before going ahead.

I agree with the suggestion of two contractors. Also, we just installed a new fence to replace an old cedar fence. We used a pvc fence made to look like wood that is unbelievably convincing, even very close up. It is more expensive than wood, but much lower maintenance. I hate fake looking things and have a very high standard for believability, but the new fence looks like wood even when you are close enough to reach out an touch it (when you touch it you know it is not wood) since it is smooth).

And a bit of unsolicited advice from someone who lives in nabe and who is avid Brownstoner reader:

Some of the contractors talked about in glowing terms here on this forum won’t come out here (I don’t blame them, it’s just something to keep in mind). Also, some of the contractors on this forum also come with Brownstone Brooklyn price tags that are often out of reach.

We have an active group of homeowners here in the nabe who have amazing Rolodexes of contractors who will work in neighborhood for prices that are more within reach. I have no idea how to send you a private message here (I’m not super active on forum), but would be happy to talk to you off forum.

The two jobs require completely different skill sets so, IMO, you’d be better off with two different workers.
