Parlor Floor Furniture Layout Brownstone

Helping design a furniture layout fora long deep brownstone. The pocket doors at entry face a large mirror with 2 equal sized sections of the front parlor essentially splitting both into a small sitting area. Looking to open up the space. Any layouts provided previously?

Thanks both. The thing that gets me most is furniture up against the walls. I think we gonna do a small seating area in bay window with 2 chairs in bay, a small table and a backless or low back chaise which can be sat on from either side. In the rear part of the parlor will have a TV in a low cabinet and a small couch against the wall, this wont be a primary tv spot. At least that’s the working plan.

Anywhere online to find info about original interiors? There is a lot of woodwork in the hall that is clearly put in at a later date and I’m wondering what it originally looked like.

Had a long narrow living/dining room like that. I prefer to have the dining area in front by the windows – as I prefer the natural light when eating or working at the table, and like the view out the windows while dining. Carrying the food a little further through the living room area to get to the dining table is a small inconvenience that is worth it.

Also, putting the living room seating area not so close to the windows is nice for lounging around on the sofa, which I prefer to do not near the windows, and I hate putting anything but plants in the living room window to screen views from outside. Also putting the tv further from the windows, if tv watching is something you do this room, cuts down on glare affecting tv viewing.

Endless possibilities without moving any walls. Can treat pier/console mirror as you would a fireplace, arrange numerous conversation groups around it, or use the front part of the room as a sitting room and the rest as a library or music room (or vice versa). Could also use the rear part as a dining area (if there’s a kitchen nearby). If the whole house is narrow (less than 20 feet wide), there are other options.
