Parking in Backyard

I share a common driveway with about 10 other homeowners. The driveway provides Backyard and garage access for the homeowners. My backyard is concrete and I park my cars back there. The cars are parked on my property and not on a easement that allows the other homeowners to drive to their house. I can squeeze two cars back there. Most of the homeowners park vehicles back there. My question: is there any NYC building code from prohibiting me from parking my car in my backyard, and is there any code in regards to what type of flooring is or isn’t allowed? Concrete, dirt/grass? Thanks

See this: http://www1.nyc.gov/nyc-resources/service/2686/vehicle-storage-on-residential-property-or-vacant-lot

Says its a violation of zoning rules to store a vehicle in a backyard. Not sure if parking is considered storing. I guess it would take one neighbor to complain vociferously to the city, the community board or a local pols office to see if it gets enforced or leads to a violation.

I wonder if its actually a violation of the NYC fire code.

I personally have been curious about this because I once parked in a spot like this and everyone on the block seems to have used their back areas for car parking. But I think it might have been part of the original zoning because there’s a driveway to the street leading to the back area spaces.
