Parapet cap

The inside of the parapet wall to our building has small areas of concrete and roofing membrane peeling away, revealing the brick underneath. There is no cap on the parapet, just concrete over brick. We called Premier to see what they would recommend for a parapet cap in addition to repairing the peeling roof membrane. They suggested lapping roofing material all the way up and over the parapet wall, and painting it with aluminum roof coating. Is this an acceptable way to deal with a parapet wall? I have seen sheet metal, terra cotta, flat stone…

Not an expert but all the parapets I’ve been involved in have some kind of cap – ceramic, copper or something.

I’m curious to know what you ended up doing. Our parapet wall is coated with roofing material (done by previous owners) but I’m told by some that it was an incorrect method but then also told by others that it is fine. What did you do?
