Painting advice Required

Hi Everybody,We have a deck that’s approx 10 years old it was never painted just sealed and now we want to stain it .Whats the correct procedure To sand everything then apply 2 coats of stain and then a sealer,Also what brands would you recommend. Thanks in advance for your replies

You don’t need a “sealer” with deck stains these days. They contain UV protection. I really like Arborcoat by Benjamin Moore. It comes in 3 or 4 different transparencies and I believe the more solid ones will cover over any paint. Of course you should power wash it first and scrub off any loose paint.
